While certainly not as symbolic as the nudity present in Ano Natsu’s closer, or in the entirety of Ghost in the Shell for that matter, this instance somehow works with the surreal food dream world. Here’s the thing though: After all that I had experienced with the first episode, I was pretty much over the shock of having sort of nudity in the show (you know, the type where it never actually shows anything), and was honestly quite okay with it. I was immediately drawn in by the guitar part, as well as the mesmerizing visuals of floating peppers, peppercorns (I think), cinnamon, and… naked people…. When the closing theme started for the first time, it really sealed the deal for me.

I had such an entertaining/funny/slightly awkward experience watching the show, that I knew it was something special.

However at the end of episode 9 there was an extended version (I’m unsure if it ended up being the full version or just more of the song), if you want to listen to that. After the absolute insanity and “meat juice” present in the first episode of Shokugeki no Soma, I was already sold on the series. The single dropped in Japan a few days ago but Tokyo Karankoron’s Youtube channel has yet to upload it and no one else has either. A video link will be below but sadly for this one there is no full version yet available. First I enjoy the fact that the song (and animation) are perfect representations of this ridiculous anime, but second I love songs that have a tendency to take the music up and down, fast and slow. I guess at the end of the day songs like this are just things I tend to favor. The ending even reminds you that show enjoys its fanservice. There’s Soma, who’s a super normal guy in a strange place (although he has his own quarks) and he somehow has to deal with all the characters around him. The animation that goes along with this theme is probably the most accurate representation of this show. I love the way it sounds, I love its cheeriness, and I adore the video. You know, the part where everything slows down and the singer’s voice goes higher pitched? It’s perfect. The middle sequence is probably the reason I chose this song. Spice is much softer than the fanservice filled show that is Food Wars and yet, they go perfectly together. Now, this song is really quite different than the show that spawned it. Enjoy.įood Wars with “Spice” by Tokyo Karankoronįrom the start of this season Spice has been my favorite ending only being rivaled by Blood Blockade Battlefront’s “Sugar Song and Bitter Step” (And also I have a strange love for Seraph of the End’s ending because I have a deep love for punk rock).

The TV version is below but if you are interested in the full version it can be found on Youtube from Bump of Chicken’s official page. I cannot stress enough that I love it.Īlso the name of this band is Bump of Chicken. They come from some strange mixture of the vocalist and the drop in the music near the end. Really, this song just gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. The vocals are so soothing and the lyrics are pretty intriguing. (Yeah, I said it) It has a great build up and the drop near the end is fantastic.
